Who we are and what PUP does — a proper introduction

PUP Team

We’re a small team based in Bandung, Indonesia. We build apps that solve real problems we personally have — the kind of tools you actually open more than once. PUP is our flagship, and it started from a simple question: what’s normal for me?

Nobody teaches you this stuff. You grow up thinking whatever happens in the bathroom is just… what happens. But gut health is one of the strongest signals your body sends, and most people never track it.

So we built an app that makes tracking effortless — and turns it into something you might actually look forward to.

What PUP does

Seven-second logs

The core of PUP is the log. You open the app, pick your Bristol type (1–7), choose a duration bucket, select the toilet type, and you’re done. Seven seconds, three taps. It works offline and syncs when you’re back online.

You can add a location name — “Home”, “Office”, “that rest stop on the Cipularang toll” — and optionally attach GPS coordinates. There’s also a free-text notes field if you want to jot down what you ate or how you feel.

The Bristol Stool Scale

PUP speaks Bristol. The Bristol Stool Scale is the clinical chart used worldwide to classify stool consistency, from Type 1 (hard lumps) to Type 7 (liquid). Types 3 and 4 are the healthy zone — smooth, easy-to-pass logs.

By logging in Bristol types, your data actually means something. You’re not just writing “today was fine” — you’re capturing a clinical signal that patterns can be built from.

Streaks, XP, and 10 ranks

Logging consistently earns you XP. Daily streaks multiply your gains. There are 10 ranks to climb, from Toilet Trainee all the way to Cosmic Crapper. The rank names are silly on purpose — gamification works better when it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

46 achievements

Some are easy (log three days in a row). Some are genuinely challenging (log every day for a month, hit all 7 Bristol types in one week). Only 4 of the 46 have ever been earned by every user. Achievement unlocks come with a notification and a little celebration from the mascot.

Patterns over time

After a few weeks of logging, PUP starts showing you things:

  • A monthly calendar coloured by Bristol type — you can see at a glance whether your gut has been consistent or all over the place.
  • Distribution charts that break down your Bristol type spread, duration patterns, and frequency.
  • A Poop Score — a single number that tells you how regular you actually are.

These aren’t vanity metrics. People have discovered food intolerances, caught early signs of stress-related gut issues, and figured out which meals actually sit well with them — all from looking at their own PUP data.

Offline-first, privacy-first

PUP works without an internet connection. Logs are stored locally in a SQLite database on your device. When you’re back online, they sync to our backend (PostgreSQL on Supabase, hosted in Singapore).

No account is required to start logging. You can optionally sign in with Google to sync across devices. We don’t sell data, don’t run ads, don’t use tracking pixels, and don’t train AI models on your logs. You can export everything as PDF or delete your account and all data at any time.

Weekly digest

Pro users get a weekly email summarising their logs, streaks, and any patterns the app spotted. It’s a quick check-in — not a lecture.

What’s coming

We’re actively working on:

  1. More achievements — the current 46 are just the start.
  2. Widgets — check your streak from your home screen without opening the app.
  3. Deeper trend analysis — longer time horizons, correlation hints, and exportable reports.

Try it

PUP is free to download on Android. No account needed to start logging — just open the app and tap. An iOS version is in the works.
